The Eastern Pain Association (EPA) held their annual meeting on October 20 at Weill Cornell Medicine.
Several faculty members and fellows were in attendance and played key roles, including Dr. Neel Mehta, director of Weill Cornell's Pain Management division and assistant professor of anesthesiology. Dr. Mehta gave a lecture on the use of buprenorphine for chronic pain.
Other presenters included Dr. Sadiah Siddiqui, assistant professor of clinical anesthesiology, who spoke on the use of amniofix in regenerative medicine; Dr. Lisa Witkin, assistant professor of anesthesiology, who addressed the audience on electronic medical record systems to improve patient outcomes; and Dr. Robert White, obstetric anesthesiology fellow, who discussed health disparities in sickle cell patients undergoing orthopedic procedures.
Additionally, there were several nominations. Dr. Witkin was elected to the Directors-at-Large board of the EPA, and Dr. Mehta — who currently serves as Treasurer — was named President-Elect for the term starting in 2020.
